GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 13th. May, 1918.

Sir,

I have the honour to forward herewith a copy of

a petition which Mr. J. R. Wood has addressed to the Treasurer and Masters of the Bench of Lincoln's Inn requesting them to grant him exemption of four terms and to call him to the Bar

in absentia.

2. The Chief Justice has written to Sir Phipson Beale, Treasurer of Lincoln's Inn, strongly supporting the application and I should be much obliged if you would use your good offices in the matter as Mr. Wood is a most deserving officer and it would be greatly to the convenience of the Colonial Government if he were called to the Bar.

I have the honour to be, sir.

Your most obedient, humble servant,

Amaz

Governor,&c..
